High Alpine Sledding

The pictures on this page where taken at the various locations mentioned below. They depict the kind of landscapes you can expect on a sled trip in the Bridge River Valley.

Vehicle support can be made available to get your sleds into the various snowmobile trail heads. If you sled in from Whistler or Pemberton, transportation can be arranged from the end of the snow line into Gold Bridge. Let Billy Watts, motel owner, know if you need this service. Billy can also arrange sled repairs & service with an excellent local sled mechanic.

Taylor Basin

Access to the trail head into Taylor Basin is about 20 kilometres from Gold Bridge, at the end of Tyaughton Lake Road. Suitable for intermediate to expert sledders; excellent alpine areas, six to eight hour trip with 40 to 80 kilometres of trails. Mountain peaks soar to 8,000 feet. There is a trapper’s cabin at 6,600 feet for warm up and shelter; bring a bit of firewood.

Relay Creek

This area is a new frontier. Ask Billy about access. Relay Creek is part of the famous Gang Ranch and the whole region is virtually untouched by snowmobiles. You may require extra gas, and you may be breaking trail for 50 to 100 kilometres. Seek good advice, get good maps, and make sure you’re an experienced, expert rider.

Slim Creek

Sleds should be taken by trailer to the north end of Gun Lake or over the “Saddle” at the southeast side of the lake. This area is for experienced riders only. Never take this ride alone! You’ll reach elevations of up to 9,000 feet, ride all day, cover up to 250 kilometers, and need to carry extra gas. Trail connects with Battlement Ridge, where there is an old mining camp.

Lone Goat Creek

Lone Goat is another area for intermediate to expert riders. Access is from Steel Bridge (on the Hurley Road), about 15 km from Gold Bridge. You’ll cover approximately 60 to 80 kilometres. Lone Goat is known for alpine bowls, snow caves, powder snow, and unlimited photographic opportunities. The Bridge River Valley Snowmobile Club maintains a cabin with solar power and a stove. Bring firewood. Donations left at cabin appreciated. Get a good map.

Noel Creek

This area provides family fun within easy reach from Bralorne. Upper Noel Creek accesses rolling alpine country and a glorious 150 foot glacial ice wall. Medium to experienced riders can find 40 to 60 kilometres of riding and altitudes in the range of 6,000 feet. Pack a lunch and enjoy the vast vistas!
